Birth Control
When it comes to birth control, you have a lot of options. Birth control is not one-size-fits-all. With a patient-centered approach, we help you identify your reproductive goals and what’s important to you. Our knowledgeable staff is ready to answer your questions and help you decide on a birth control method that fits your goals and lifestyle. We offer IUDs and the implant. Condoms, lube, and dental dams are always free and available in office!
Emergency Contraception
Have you had unprotected sex or believe your birth control method may have failed? We’re here to help. Emergency contraception is a pill that can prevent pregnancy but it must be taken within 5 days of unprotected sex. You don’t need an appointment and pick it up from our office for less than what you will pay at the pharmacy. Can’t make it to the office? No worries, we can send in a prescription to your preferred pharmacy.
STIs
Sexually transmitted infections or STIs, are common and some do not cause symptoms. Many STIs are easily treatable but if left untreated, STIs can lead to serious health concerns. At the Health Center, we offer judgment free STI testing and treatment. Your health is important, please call our office if you are experiencing symptoms or would like to be tested. Ask your provider about PrEP and PEP, medications that can prevent contracting HIV through unprotected sex.
Pregnancy Options & Preconception Care
We provide pregnancy testing and counseling on all of your options. We understand that pregnancy experiences and decisions can be complicated. We offer space to learn about your options and local resources. Our staff respect all decisions, experiences, feelings, and pregnancy options, at any point in your journey. If you or your partner are seeking pregnancy, we offer resources on fertility, parenting, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle and pregnancy.
Cervical and Breast Cancer Screening
Cervical and breast screenings are important as they can detect cancer earlier, making it easier to treat. Our providers use a trauma-informed approach when providing pelvic exams, breast exams, and Pap smears. A Pap is an important test that checks for cell changes in your cervix that could lead to cervical cancer. We also provide screening and diagnostic mammogram referrals.
Confidentiality
According to the Protect Access to Confidential Healthcare (PATCH) Act, insurance companies in Massachusetts are not allowed to describe in an identifiable way sensitive services. These services include testing for sexually transmitted infections, birth control, and pregnancy testing. Also, if you are on the same plan as a parent/legal guardian, spouse or partner, you have the right to choose how and where your health insurance company sends the written explanation of services after your healthcare visit. If you are worried about confidentiality and have a non-MassHealth plan, call the customer service number on your health insurance card and request that the form be sent to a different address or that you want to receive the form online. You can request that the form not be sent at all if you do not owe any out-of-pocket costs. MassHealth does not send explanations of benefits. If you have a non-MassHealth insurance plan and cannot have your explanations of benefits sent elsewhere or have other insurance issues or confidentiality concerns let your provider know. They can help set you up with our sliding fee scale supported by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
